Sensex, Nifty end 2.6% higher; cap goods, metals, autos rally

The Sensex closed up 568 points or 2.5 percent at 23554.12 and the Nifty was up 182 points or 2.6 percent at 7162.95.

About 1984 shares advanced, 678 shares declined, and 115 shares were unchanged.

Tata Steel, L&T, Hindalco, SBI, Adani Ports were top gainers while Bharti Airtel, HUL, HDFC twins were losers in the Sensex.

Indian ADRs: HDFC Bank, Tata Motors gain; Dr Reddy’s slips

In the IT space, Infosys was down 0.11 percent at USD 16.10.

Wipro added 0.08 percent at USD 11.07.

In the banking space, ICICI Bank fell 0.08 percent at USD 5.46.

HDFC Bank jumped 1.28 percent at USD 55.23.

In the other sectors, Tata Motors gained 0.98 percent at USD 21.54.

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories shed 0.42 percent at USD 41.82.



Nifty ends below 7000, Sensex weak; Tata Motors up 8%

The market has posted biggest weekly losses since July 2009. The Sensex ended up 34.29 points or 0.1 percent at 22986.12 and the Nifty was up 4.60 points at 6980.95.

About 898 shares have advanced, 1684 shares declined, and 133 shares are unchanged.

Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, M&M, Axis Bank and NTPC are top gainers while BHEL, Adani Ports, ONGC, Hindalco and L&T were losers in the Sensex.
